Man, oh man, it was good to be home in New Orleans.  The official excuse for the trip was a wedding, for one of my college roommates and sorority sisters. But we always want to spend time with David’s mom, have friends and family to love on, new babies to meet and kiss, so our weekend in NOLA was a long and busy one.

I’ve had white ripped skinnies on repeat since just after Labor Day- I know, I’m so stubborn! I wore them with a high-low knotted tee from Zara that is just the softest cotton, and metallic wedges and glitzy accessories.  This Stella and Dot choker can be worn a bunch of ways and I’m obsessed with it.. its called the ‘reese sparkle.”  My sunnies are Lanvin from Shop Ditto’s Endless Eyewear program… use code RAVAYNA for your first month free!

It was the perfect outfit for a morning in the CBD and brunch with my best friend. She was one of my bridesmaids, and has a new addition to her family due in the new year that I just can’t wait to spoil to an unreasonable degree.

Willa Jean’s is a new-to-me addition to the Besh empire. It opened after we moved from New Orleans, but it has been on my list to check out- with good reason.

The decor was lovely, with exposed brick and antique lighting, and the food was bowl-you over incredible.

We started with grilled banana bread and the most incredible warm rice cereal with almond milk and poached pear. And iced coffee- so necessary. We shared the fried chicken and sausage-egg-pimento cheese biscuits, and a bbq shrimp toast dish that really might be the best I’ve ever had.

We stopped for a little cemetery stroll on our way back uptown to our apartment.  Because of the water table, we bury our dead above ground in New Orleans.  The masoleums are gorgeous, and it’s hauntingly beautiful there.
